HARRISON
I’m 19 years old and the keytar player in Kodachrome. Although primarily a composer, I am also an enthusiastic multi instrumentalist, pursuing mastery of trumpet and piano. Music became my passion at the age of six when I began learning the piano. From then on I dedicating more and more of my time towards making music my career. Fast forward twelve years and I’m fortunate enough to be rehearsing almost every day of the week and even writing music in paid positions.
To me music is the ultimate form of expression. It creates a flow of experiences, emotions and ideas that I think is paramount throughout the world, now more than ever. From a composition perspective, my heroes are Schostakovitch, Count Basie and DJ Shadow. Instrumentally, I take inspiration from Rachmaninov, Pixies and Clifford Brown. Despite the disparity in content, I try and channel the ideologies of this people into my part in Kodachrome so that I can represent myself as a musician.
Playing with Kodachrome is a new kind of experience for me. The exposure and close proximity to my band mates as well as the performance aspects outside of musicality create an atmosphere that I find exhilarating. There is a new level of energy between band members that I have not yet experienced in other ensembles. I find that playing in a band presents new challenges that develop me as a musician and that I enjoy solving with my friends.
